COVID-19 Latest Information & SISFU FAQ's

A: Based on the government’s extension of enhanced community quarantine measures in Luzon until April 30th, online classes will continue for the remainder of the school year at all SGEN schools. Face-to-Face classes will resume for School Year 2020-2021. This is subject to change depending on Public Health guidance as issued by the Department of Health, CHED, and DepEd.

Extension of student visa will be processed once all government offices resume operations. Please take note of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) Announcement as of March 26:

They announced that they will temporarily be allowing holders of temporary visitors visa, who have stayed in the country for less than one year, to acquire their Emmigration Clearance Certificates (ECCs) at the international airports.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente said that the decision followed after Luzon was placed under Enhanced Community Quarantine (ECQ) to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19).

An ECC is issued to temporary visitors who have stayed in the country for more than six months, and to holders of residence, work, or students visas who wish to leave the country for good.

For international students who have gone back to their home countries, classes and final assessments will be delivered and made available online.

A: You have already been contacted by your Dean and/or Head of Industry Placement are they are ready and willing to assist you with your current placement. If you have not checked your email or mobile phone, check it now!

A: Tuition fees will remain the same and will not change for the remainder of AY2019-2020.

1. A: An officially enrolled student who leaves the University after the term has commenced shall be entitled to a refund/credit of his/her tuition fee, but not the Admin and Miscellaneous Fees. Accordingly, the refund scheme is as follows: 2. Any student who drops out of school during a given term due to personal reasons or is dropped due to an administrative sanction arising from an infraction of SISFU rules and regulations shall be required to settle in full his/her outstanding accounts before any school record (e.g. report card, official transcript of records, certification, etc.) can be released.

A: At the moment this is very much an unknown. It is dependent upon whether further travel restrictions are set in place.

A: Check your student email for frequent updates from the Academic team and from your instructors to ensure that you can access the materials for your lessons and assessments.

A: Just like you would do on campus, please check your email, Google Classroom, and Blackboard programme each day. There you will find instructions on assignments, video meeting schedules and links, and learning resources.

A: If you are enrolled in practical subject, said classes will be scheduled when we resume face-to-face classes on 14 April 2020. In the event there is an extension to the Expanded Community Quarantine you will receive an email to update you on how it will be completed by 10 April 2020.

A: A: Yes, all assessment should be submitted on Turnitin as per usual.

A: Yes, you will continue to have online access to your library resources as normal. We are also creating a dedicated Team for the Library so you can pose questions and get online responses to any questions you may have. In addition you may also refer to the Library circular which provides links to additional free online sources.

A: Should suspension of classes be extended beyond 14 April 2020, extensions will be requested from the partner institutions for online administration of examinations or alternative assessments.

A: The Senior High School programme will not change.

For SOBM, There are no DMU programme changes. Only the mode of delivery has been changed in the light of the COVID 19 pandemic.

For SOHM, No. Your current teaching program will stay as it is. There may be some slight adjustments to individual subjects containing practical elements but that’s about it.  These will be reflected in any changes in your calendar.

A: Yes, there will be no online classes conducted during the period 06 - 11 April 2020.

A: All changes will be communicated to Students via the subject/module lecturer and the Academics Office. New and/or updated Front Sheets/Assessment Briefs (not sure what they are called in DMU) will also be posted to Google Classroom/Blackboard.

SOBM – The Office of Dean of SOBM communicates the schedule changes in submissions and the mode of assessments. Please always refer to Google Classroom announcements.

A: Due to the ongoing COVID-19 situation, all SISFU internships will be deferred until 2021. This is happening across the board for all SOBM, SOHM, and SHS internships. No one will be able to take an internship this year as the world struggles to deal with the public health crisis.

This is based on guidance by CHED and DepEd and is in line with established best practices to mitigate the spread of the virus.

We know that many of you were looking forward to taking your internships and we are sorry that it has come to this. But this is not the end. You will have the opportunity to complete your internship next year, better prepared, and with far more local and international opportunities than you might have found this year.

The Graduation Ceremony has been delayed indefinitely following the precautionary safety measures of DepEd and the national govt, e.g. social distancing, etc. Alternative arrangements will be made in line with public health guidelines. This FAQ will be updated as soon as we can confirm that Graduation will be proceeding and when.
